Spiritual Satisfaction

Read

John 6:35, "Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.'"

Think

Physical hunger is an interesting aspect of life. We eat to satisfy our hunger, only to grow hungry again down the road. But we know that, in order to continue living, we must do something to satisfy our hunger day in and day out. Spiritual hunger, a hunger that runs deeper than we can ever know, is much different. But it is still a hunger that begs to be satisfied. And in order to quench our spiritual hunger we must believe and digest the Bread of Life. Belief isn't just an intellectual appreciation giving mental ascent to some distant doctrine. It's not simply memorizing historical facts, flippantly acknowledging God, or even merely recognizing Jesus as God's only Son. To believe in the bread of life, to believe in Jesus Christ, means to come to Him and to fully yield our lives to Him. Believing means receiving Him within. Once we do, our eternity is sealed, our spiritual hunger is complete. Don't fall into the trap of believing that you can earn God's favor over and over. The work of trusting Jesus Christ is not by works. It is by faith. Grow to trust in Christ and what He has already done, and you will discover the only relationship that truly satisfies those pangs of spiritual hunger.

Act

The decision to accept Christ is the most crucial decision anyone can ever make, and it shouldn't be made flippantly. It must be understood fully so that we can trust Christ completely. Pray

Thank You, God, for providing me with the opportunity to live forever with You. I trust that the work You have done through Christ is all I need. Help me to trust in You so that I can experience true satisfaction. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
