Sleeping Beauty

Read

Ephesians 2:8-10, "God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago."

Romans 10:9, "If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

Think

Remember the Disney movie Sleeping Beauty? A princess is cursed into a deep sleep, and nothing can wake her but a kiss from the prince. Now imagine that you are the princess and have been awakened from a deep sleep. It is a huge story. All the news shows want an interview, and the first question they ask, "How did you break the curse?" What would you say?

As the princess, you couldn't say, "I was thinking about the curse and decided, ‘It's time to wake up!'" You couldn't say, "Well, I just claimed the victory for myself." You also could not say, "I asked the prince to come, and he came." You could not say any of that. You were asleep! You were cursed! So, what would you say? You would say, "I didn't break the curse. The prince did."

As human beings, we are all under the curse of death because we have all sinned. There is nothing we can do to break that curse. We are helpless in our predicament. But God loves us and sent God the Son, Jesus Christ, to do for us what we could not do for ourselves. His death and resurrection broke the curse.

Are you a spiritual sleeping beauty? If so, it's time to wake up! By God's grace, all we do is believe, shift our loyalty to Christ, and declare that He is Lord!

Act

Have you openly declared that Jesus is Lord and believed that God raised him from the dead? If not, now is the time for you to do so!

Pray

Dear God, Thank You for sending Jesus to save me. I confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe that You raised Him from the dead. I'm ready to follow You! Amen.
