Hebrews 11:23-26, "By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king's edict. By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, choosing rather to endure ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking to the reward."
Have you ever skipped a smooth stone across a glassy pond or thrown a big rock as far as you could into the lake? SPLASH! Then come the ripples. They spread as far as the eye can see and create a stir far beyond the point of contact. Your faith in God is like that rock or stone. It has a ripple effect on those within your sphere of influence.
The great things Moses accomplished for God as an adult were the ripple effects of the faith-filled decisions his parents made in his early childhood. Today's reading tells us that Moses' parents hid him for three months by faith. By that same faith, Moses chose to put God first. Rather than temporary sinful satisfaction, he looked toward his eternal reward despite the consequences. We have the same opportunity to impact our children by faith – trusting that our investment today will pay off in eternity!
Parents, your children's faith trajectory begins with you. They will not start a relationship with Jesus while they're young unless you guide them into it. But you don't have to do it alone. That's what the church is all about! We want to partner with you to grow your already-amazing kids into even more amazing future leaders and influencers. Remember, planting the seed of faith in their hearts while they're young is like tossing a stone into a still pond. You will start ripples that can impact generations to come!
Faith is like a muscle that needs to be flexed regularly to maintain its strength capacity. Do you have any faith muscles in need of a workout? Is there an area in your life that's lacking trust in God? If uncertain, ask Him to show you and help you strengthen your belief. And if you need a great biblical reminder of those whose faith made some major ripples, check out Hebrews 11 by clicking on the "Read More" tab below!
Father, Thank You for the people You placed in my life whose ripples of faith led me to have a personal relationship with Christ. Give me a hunger and thirst for Your Word, Your ways, and Your church. Help me to stand firm and flex my faith muscles so You can use me to influence others and glorify Your holy name. In Jesus' name, Amen.
