Revelation 20:13
, "And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done."
Think
"I am responsible." Have you ever been pulled over for a traffic violation? It is sobering to have to take responsibility for breaking the law. But when we get behind the wheel, we have to remember that it's a privilege and with it comes responsibility. Just as we are responsible for keeping traffic laws when we are driving a car, we are also responsible to God for how we respond to the choices we face in life. This verse reminds us that we will all be held accountable for our decisions – even those no one else sees. One of the great gifts we are given is the ability to choose. But sometimes we take for granted the opportunities and responsibilities God gives us. We forget that we are responsible to God for the things we do that we shouldn't do and the things we don't do that we should do. God is gracious and gives us opportunities. And we can experience great satisfaction when we choose to obey him even in the most difficult circumstances!
Act
Don't underestimate the power of even the "small" decisions! Commit to obeying God with even the smallest decisions today.
Pray
Lord, thank you for trusting me with opportunities at work, at school and in my relationships. Please give me the wisdom to see the opportunities and the strength to make good decisions. And, thank you for your forgiveness when I stumble. In Jesus' name, Amen.
