Hebrews 10:21-22, "And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God's house, let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting Him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ's blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water."
If you have been to a museum, chances are that you've seen certain areas roped off or behind glass as an obvious sign of "do not enter." Those spaces are special and to be kept pristine and undisturbed. Many of us have a similar approach when we think about Jesus. Because He is special and set apart, we feel as if we're not allowed to enter His holy presence.
The temple in Jerusalem had "that room" known as the holy of holies. Access was permitted only once a year by a high priest with express permission to perform purification rites for the entire nation of Israel. It was enclosed by a 30-foot tall, very thick veil - an obvious "do not enter" sign. However, the moment Jesus died on the cross for our sins, the veil was miraculously torn apart from top to bottom. It was a sign that we now had full acceptance, total forgiveness, unlimited access because of Christ's purifying blood.
When we receive Jesus into our lives, we gain a 24/7 all-access pass for personal intimacy with God. We can come before Him at any time with confidence – Godifidence – knowing that we, too, share in His holiness.
With a black Sharpie marker write down the word "UNCLEAN." Now, take a red Sharpie and completely color over that word. See how this illustrates that we have been purified by the blood of Christ.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Son, Jesus! I know that it's only because of Him that I'm able to enter Your presence. Help me to accept that the work of being "good enough" or "clean enough" has been done by Jesus' sacrifice. I am clean because of Him. In Jesus' name, Amen!
