Luke 10:33-35
, "But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,' he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.'"
Think
"Jesus got down from His position to care for our needs." The Samaritan saw the man in need, went to the man in need, and took care of the man in need. In the Samaritan's actions, we learn something incredible about Jesus. First, Jesus' sees our needs. He is not too busy to notice. Second, Jesus comes to us when we are in need. He doesn't wait for us to come to Him. Third, Jesus takes care of our needs. He has what we need to be healed. This story should do more than just encourage us in our relationship with Jesus. This story should motivate us in the way we treat others:
- Do we see the needs of people around us?
- Do we take the initiative and go to those in need?
- Do we let God use us to take care of the needs of others?
Act
As you go throughout your day, pay attention to those in need. As you see their need, pray for God to use you. Then go do what you can for them, trusting God will do the rest.
Pray
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible way You provide for my needs. Please strengthen me to care for others in need and give me opportunities to introduce them to You so You can provide for their deepest needs. In Jesus' name, Amen.
