Romans 3:23-24,
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus."
Think
"Grace is a free gift from God! There's no purchase necessary, no fine print, and no exclusions!" It's pretty undeniable that humans are imperfect. Even if you are still kicking the tires of Christianity, it's common in our culture to hear the excuse, "I'm only human." As humans, we fall short of perfection and fail often. That's called sin. Sin is simply not measuring up to God's standards. And just like speeding is failing to uphold the law and will get you a ticket, sin comes with its own consequences. Thankfully, God loved each of us so much, even knowing we would make mistakes, that he sent his Son Jesus to come and pay our fine, to take our place. That's called grace. The amazing thing about grace is that it is a gift from God to us. It's free! There's no purchase necessary and no fine print! All we have to do is accept it. Nothing we've ever done, nothing we could ever do, would be too bad or too big to keep us from receiving the grace of God.
Act
How has God blessed you? These are evidences of God's grace in your life. Thank him for it through your day. Also, notice the situations in which you need to show grace to others, because you've been shown grace.
Pray
God, thank you for your grace in my life, and for sending your Son, Jesus, to stand in my place and bear the consequences of my sin. Show me how to live in a way that honors you, and help me to remember that your grace is bigger than my mistakes. In Jesus' name, Amen.
