Luke 23:44-46, "It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Jesus called out with a loud voice, ‘Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit.' When He had said this, He breathed His last."

Can you imagine seeing a battered and beaten Jesus on His way to die the most dishonorable death? Can you imagine watching as nails are driven into His hands and feet? And can you imagine your feelings of uncertainty and fear as you hear Jesus cry out before drawing His last breath under a darkened sky? In this same remarkable moment, others standing in the temple watch as the curtain that veils the Most Holy Place is torn in half. It rips from top to bottom, with the touch of God's hand. This area, so sacred that only the high priest is allowed to enter once a year to sacrifice for the atonement of sin, is suddenly made visible to everyone. As we approach Easter, we tend to have a heightened sense of gratitude for Jesus' sacrifice. But we often fail to remember that not only is this a time to celebrate our hope of heaven, but it's also a time to recognize that we have an all-access pass to the Most Holy Place - the throne room of God. Every time we pray, every second we seek God, we are standing before His throne. So, as we memorialize the Good Friday events above, let's be mindful of God's gift of unmerited grace, and pause to simply bask in God's holy presence made possible by Jesus' death on the cross 2,000 years ago!

Heavenly Father, Thank You for sending Your only Son to die a painful death for the forgiveness of my sins. Right now, I stand before You and pray for the people I know who desperately need You. May countless lives be changed this Easter weekend. In Christ's name, Amen.
