Think
If you do a quick internet search for "marriage," you will find a lot of misinformation. Sadly, in today's culture, marriage is more defined by societal norms than biblical truth. So it's no wonder that with this relativistic and unanchored mass misconception, many have become disillusioned with the institution of marriage. Perhaps an understanding of what marriage is can help. We live in a society that doesn't seem to appreciate or even understand that marriage is more than a commitment, it's a covenant. And because it is a covenant before God, marriage should be a reflection of the gospel. As Christ followers, we are on the receiving end of God's unconditional love and forgiveness. In turn, we are to love our spouse unconditionally and extend forgiveness freely. If a marriage truly reflects the gospel, God will work through each spouse to better one another. Winning marriages have Christ in the center. And that's the gospel truth!
Act
Ephesians 4:32 says, "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Print out this verse, place it in a prominent location, and commit it to memory.
Pray
Father God, thank You for the covenant of marriage. Help me to love my spouse unconditionally and forgive freely just as You have done for me. Let our marriage and our lives be a reflection of You. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
