Look Up

Think

Crime shows are very popular these days. In less than an hour, we can discover a murdered victim, investigate the crime, and witness how the killers are caught. In every case, the criminals think they won't be discovered, but there's always an unknown witness, a piece of unearthed evidence, or some minute detail that goes unnoticed by the perpetrator. And, inevitably, their secret is revealed.

Such is the case with Moses, who committed a major league sin - murder! He thought that he'd gotten away with it, and likely even convinced himself that his actions were justified because he was defending a fellow Hebrew. He thought, "No one will know." But, in fact, someone did see. A witness came forward and changed the trajectory of his life.

The same happens to us. We find ourselves in a difficult situation and we look left and right to see what we can get away with, how we can escape this situation with the least amount of pain. Instead, we need to look up and ask God to help us – even if following Him is not the easiest way out. Because, in the long run, the easiest way is usually not the best way.

If you have already made this mistake, it's not too late. Instead of trying to cover up, look up, and ask God to lead you. When you do, He will guide you in the right direction. And you can live a life of freedom – freedom from looking over your shoulder, fearful of being found out!

Act

What decision are you trying to make right now? Before acting, make a list with two columns. Column one is "My Way." Column two is "God's Way." Now, put an X through column one and trust God's way. It's always better.

Pray

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your grace and mercy. I know there are times I've taken matters into my own hands and failed to look up. Please forgive me. Help me to look to You first in all things. In Jesus' name, Amen.
