2 Corinthians 13:5
"Look closely at yourselves. Test yourselves to see if you are living in the faith. Don't you realize that Christ Jesus is in you? Of course, if you fail the test, he is not in you."
Think
God's "I" Exam We've been talking about looking up and looking out this week. Now, it's time to look IN. It's said that the eyes are the windows to the soul. If so, what would an eye, or rather, an "I" exam reveal? As today's scripture instructs, we should take time to look closely at ourselves. Not just the outside, but on the inside. What do your actions, words, and thoughts reveal about your heart and soul? It's not always easy to do an honest "I" exam, but it's important if we truly desire to live according to God's plan for our life. If we are truly honest with our "I" exam, we will realize that on our own, we can't live as God intends for us to. But with Christ, we can. When we ask him to change us, then he can transform the way we think, the way we respond, and the motives of our hearts. When we consistently and honestly look in, we can sync up with his plan for us. Look in and ask God to show his way for you. It's infinitely better than our own!
Act
Begin your "I" Exam. Make a list of some things in your life that need to change: in your relationships, priorities, attitudes, and actions. Ask God to help you make small changes each day.
Pray
Heavenly Father, thank you for the plans you have for my life. I want to make sure that my actions, words, and thoughts are always aligned with your plans for my life. Give me the courage to honestly look inside myself. Show me what you want me to change and give to you. In Jesus' name, Amen!
