Job 28:28,
"And this is what God says to all humanity: The fear of the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding." James 1:5,
"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you."
Think
It seems like everything we need to know can be found on Google, right? We Google everything from recipes to instructional videos on YouTube to whatever momentarily piques our interest. But although our world is filled with knowledge, opinion, and passion, it's starving for wisdom. It hungers for the answers to life's questions and the ability to apply what we've learned in a way that brings deep satisfaction and success. So, if not Google, where do we find the answers we seek? They are found in the pages of Scripture. It's in God's Word that we find a windfall of blessing, an insurmountable amount of discernment that comes our way when we have a healthy fear of God. Let's talk dividends. How does walking in fear of the Lord pay off? God says it's wisdom. It's something we all need and can never have enough of. We make decisions every day - what to do and not to do when we're in meetings at work, loving our spouse, parenting our children, and even weathering heartache and suffering. No matter how smart we are, we all benefit from the guidance and direction that comes from God. Remember, the fear of God means fear of separation from Him. It means keeping our eye on how frightening it would be to stop trusting and depending on Him to be our source for everything in life. When we seek God's wisdom, we gain an understanding of how to apply His knowledge on a daily basis. And the value of that dividend is priceless!
Act
Where do you need God's wisdom in your life at this very moment? Where do you need His discernment to act appropriately and succeed? James 1:5 states that if you need God's wisdom, ask for it and He will give it to you in abundance.
Pray
Dear God, I need Your wisdom for___________. I believe in Your promise to give wisdom freely to all without finding fault, so I await the coming answer. When that wisdom comes, I will apply it to my life. Thank you! Amen.
