Know Fear

Read

Psalm 23:4, "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."

Think

Know this: God is here! There are few certainties in life. But, one certainty that we do have is that there will be trials. While that isn't a very uplifting thought, today's scripture is meant to encourage us as we walk through them. Whether it be financial, relational, personal or health-related, these situations have the potential to make us crumble in fear and crater from heartache. But how can we go through such experiences without doing so? As we walk through these valleys and trials feeling isolated and alone, it is imperative to hold on to this fact: God is here. He is here to guide us and comfort us. In fact, his Word, the Bible, reminds us 365 times to lay down our fears at the beginning of each day. When you can't make sense of what is happening, trust that God knows and is in control. He was with you before, he is with you during and he will be with you after every trial. So, lift your fear up to God, receive his comfort and be certain that, no matter the situation, you will never have to face it alone!

Act

Today, listen to the song "Why God?" by Austin French and ask God to give you strength and comfort as you wrestle with the age-old question: "Why do bad things happen to good people?"

Pray

Heavenly Father, thank you for never leaving my side. There are times I feel alone in my circumstances, but I know that you are with me. Help me to rise above that place of despair and loneliness, and instead turn to you in prayer. Allow me to feel your presence in the midst of trials as a reminder that you are in control. In Jesus' name, Amen.
