Influence of Family

Read

Hebrews 10:24-25 (NLT),  "Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near."

Think

"Fellowship isn't just who we are, it's what we do!" The characteristics of our family can rub off on us. Maybe they talk with a certain dialect that you notice in your voice when you are around them. Maybe they are into a specific hobby or sport that you become interested in when you are together. Maybe they have a specific set of values that you have adopted in your own life. In so many ways, our family influences us. The church is designed to be our faith family, and God designed us to be around them because they positively influence us. The love and good works of our church family should rub off on us. Consistently being around them helps encourage us and develop us into the men and women God designed us to be. Are you part of the family?

Act

Use the following yes/no statements to evaluate how much you prioritize the church in your life: • I attend church at least 3 out of 4 weekends. • I have a regular place that I serve in the church. • I consistently invite others to attend church with me. • I invest the first 10% of my income in the church.

Pray

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the family You have given me in the form of the church. Please help me prioritize the church so it will be the influence You want it to be. In Jesus' name, Amen.
