Psalm 22:8 "‘He trusts in the Lord,' they say, ‘let the Lord rescue him. Let Him deliver him, since he delights in Him.'"

Think

These words were spoken with mocking scorn by David's enemies. They were repeated again in the New Testament by Jesus' enemies. In Matthew 27:43, Jesus' enemies didn't realize they were fulfilling Old Testament prophecy as they taunted him, questioning if he was the real Messiah. They shouted, "He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him." David and Jesus not only faced many giants, but their suffering was intensified by the trash-talking and taunts of those who opposed them. For Christ-Followers, these two verses from the Old and New Testament remind us that we may sometimes be the subject of trash-talking and taunting because of our beliefs. But, we can stand strong knowing that, through it all, God always wins. As loyal teammates, we are on the winning team because God is greater than all of our enemies! Though these words were meant to be taunts, they actually speak the truth. We can always move forward with Godfidence that God will deliver us, no matter what giants we face, by claiming this great phrase: IN GOD WE TRUST!

Act

Picture the people who may be opposing you in your life right now. Though they may not like you or want to associate with you, would they be able to accuse you of trusting in God? Is your life a living example of someone who trusts God, even in the face of difficult challenges?

Pray

God, I want to stop and thank you today for being such a trustworthy God! Knowing that I can put my full trust in you gives me all the confidence and hope I need to face any giant. Help me to show my trust in you to the people who stand alongside me and the people who oppose me. Use my life to be a living example of your great power, strength, hope and love. Thank you. Amen.
