His Name

Read

Acts 1:8, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

Think

"There is no other name like Jesus."  In Newton's law of physics, he stated that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The same could be said about the name of Jesus! Since his birth, no other name has received so many reactions. Jesus' followers knew he was no ordinary man. They watched him teach, perform miracles and speak with an authority that could only come from God. In Acts 1:8, he tells his followers they will be his witnesses. They would tell the world about what they saw him do and heard him say. Peter and the other disciples were some of those witnesses boldly communicating to those who opposed Jesus. Peter couldn't hide the truth ... HE HAD TO SHARE! Even today the name of JESUS causes a reaction within everyone who hears it. What is your reaction to that name? Does your relationship with Jesus cause you to want to be a "witness" for him? Or, does his name create tension and conviction in you? If so, then maybe it's time to open your heart to him.

Act

If you know Jesus, ask for opportunities to share him with others. If you are curious about Jesus, ask him to reveal himself to you and to bring people around you who can tell you more about him.

Pray

God, thank you for sending your son, Jesus, to die for me. Help me to never take his name for granted. Give me opportunities to share him with others so they, too, can know the power of his name. In Jesus' name, Amen!
