Mark 14:38,
"Stay awake and pray so that you won't enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."
Think
"High risk means we need to be on high alert!" The U.S. Department of Homeland Security developed a system that alerts us to different levels of travel risk. If a destination is identified as green, then it is considered safe. If it's orange or red, then there is a high level of risk and we need to be on high alert. Many of us live life as if we are in the green zone when we are really in the red zone. We flirt, even though we're married. We dabble with an addiction, assuming we have the strength to resist it. We spend time with the friend who enjoys sharing the latest gossip. We live as if there is no danger when there is an enemy who wants to take us down. Satan is a great strategist. He rarely leads a frontal attack. He identifies our weaknesses and slips in under the cover of night. Here's the good news: We're never alone. God can give us the best night-vision goggles ever made! He can open our eyes to the temptation and give us the strength to escape it - if we will just ask.
Act
Identify three areas where you need to put up your guard and list ways you can stay far away from temptation. Remember, the farther away you are from the fire, the less likely you are to get burned!
Pray
Father, help me be honest about my areas of weakness so I can guard against temptation and rely on you for strength.
