Psalm 139:14 "I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
Psalm 92:4-5, "You thrill me, LORD, with all You have done for me! I sing for joy because of what You have done. O LORD, what great works You do! And how deep are Your thoughts."
Have you ever worn a "Hello, My Name Is..." sticker at a party or function? What if you had to fill in the blank with a word other than your actual name? Perhaps you might select a positive quality such as courageous, well-liked, or responsible. Or maybe, like so many of us, you'd negatively label yourself with a word like failure, unattractive, or afraid. However, if you know Jesus personally and choose a negative label, then you're suffering from a case of mistaken identity.
Today's reading identifies us as "fearfully and wonderfully made." Therefore, when we speak negatively of ourselves or believe the mean-spirited words of others, we're mocking God's divine design. Why? Because God doesn't create junk!
You are not average; you're extraordinary! God uniquely gifted you for assignments that no one else can fulfill. Therefore, choose to remove any negative labels hindering you from being the amazing person God created you to be. Believe who He says you are and wear His designer label - Jesus Christ!
Now, think back to that "Hello, My Name Is..." sticker. What word will you choose now: loved, forgiven, fearless, accepted, complete, or child of God?
Remember: The more you say what God says, the more you'll think what God thinks!
Beginning with "I am fearfully and wonderfully made," comprise a list of God's affirming labels. Post it near your bathroom mirror, and each morning go through your list and declare aloud that you are who God says you are - nothing more and nothing less.
Heavenly Father, Thank You for making me a new creation in Christ. Today, I choose to believe I am who You say that I am – Your dearly loved child, empowered by Your Spirit through Christ, completely equipped to do all You have created me to do. In Jesus' name, Amen.
