I John 4:4, "You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world."
Romans 8:31, "What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?"
God has propelled you forward. You've made great strides. You're a completely different person than you were before you surrendered your life to Christ. Maybe you were radically rescued, and you've experienced immense life-change. Or perhaps you grew up in church and have seen God's faithfulness time and again. Why, then, can't you get past that one thing? Why are you spending the money you should be putting into savings? Why can't you seem to stick with that health plan or decide once and for all to eliminate that toxic relationship? Whatever your "thing" is, you're not alone. Even when we've made great strides in our walk with Christ, we all seem to have a stubborn issue or two that we just can't seem to shake.
We often face these issues with a pre-set attitude of resignation - but we can't settle! The truth is, we can get past it! We must fight with the assumption that we're going to win - because Christ is in us and He who is in us is greater than all. So, each time we face that familiar tug, that urge to cave in, we've got to stop, remove ourselves from the situation momentarily, and ask our Heavenly Father for clarity as we lean on His almighty strength.
Bottom line: If God is for you, what can stand against you? Absolutely nothing! And what's more amazing than that? Absolutely nothing!
Today, keep this biblical truth in mind: Jesus loves me, He is for me, and He has overcome the world!
Dear Lord, I seek to obey You! I want to please You! Help me remember to stand on Your strength in my weakness. Guide my thoughts and convict me in the moment to maintain a posture of victory! In Jesus' name, Amen.
