Good and Angry

Read

Ephesians 4:26,  "In your anger, do not sin."

Think

"God wants us to gauge our rage." What happens when you get cut off on the highway? How do you react when your kids talk back to you? What is your response when your boss tells you to work late for the third night in a row? If you're like most people, you get angry. When it comes to those situations, we often lash out and over-react. We jump over our initial emotion (insecurity, fear, doubt, etc.), and jump to anger. Anger is everywhere we turn. We live in the age of rage! Did you realize that anger isn't all bad? In fact, as we read in today's verse, there is a way to be angry and not over-react, not lash out. There's a way to use anger to actually better ourselves. We are going to get angry. Our great God himself gets angry. The question we must ask ourselves is, "Am I getting angry at the right things and in the right way?" This week, begin to think strategically about what angers you. Ask God to reveal his truth about anger, and begin to use your anger in a constructive way!

Act

Make a list of those things that make you angry. As you write each one down, say a short prayer for God to help you handle that area in a way that will be constructive rather than destructive.

Pray

Dear God, I know everyone gets angry at times, but sometimes my anger gets the better of me. Help me to see anger from your perspective. And help me utilize anger to help me grow. In Jesus' name, Amen.
