Four Facts

Matthew 7:21, "Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven."

Think

Last Sunday, Pastor Ed shared four frightening biblical facts. Sadly, we learned that although everyone is given the same opportunity to know Christ personally, a vast majority rejects this offer. You see, entering into a relationship with Jesus isn't something we casually stumble into, rather it's a deliberate choice to accept God's gift of eternal life. The Frightening Four: 1. Not everyone will be saved - Although it's God's desire for everyone to be saved, Jesus doesn't force his way into our lives. Therefore, it's our responsibility to decide for ourselves. 2. More people will be lost than saved - Yesterday we read about two roads: one wide and heavily traveled and one narrow taken by few. This means more people choose the road to destruction than the path leading to a Christ-filled eternity. 3. Most people who think they're saved aren't - Many people falsely assume that knowing about God is the same as knowing him. Not true! The Bible says even demons believe Jesus is the Son of God. Therefore, our devotion to Christ is determined by the fruit we bear. 4. There are no second chances - The moment we die, that's it! There's no going back and no do-overs. This means heaven starts here, not in the hereafter. We will all spend eternity in one of two places, either with God in heaven or without him in hell. We never know what tomorrow will bring, so live today as if it were your last!

Act

Re-read today's scripture. Are you confident in your salvation? Have you sealed the deal with God? You don't have to be uncertain. If you have not yet committed your heart and life to Christ, do so now by praying the prayer below.

Pray

God, I admit that I am a sinner in need of your forgiveness. I believe that you sent your only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for my sins and after three days you raised him to life. I commit my life to Jesus as both my Lord and Savior and surrender all that I am to you from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. In Jesus' name, Amen.
