Read
Proverbs 10:11,
"The words of the godly are a life-giving fountain; the words of the wicked conceal violent intentions."
Think
"We can speak life-giving words, but only with God's word in us." Have you ever walked away from a conversation with someone and felt refreshed? The clarity, encouragement, and energy brought life and a new perspective. Then there is the opposite situation, where the conversation just drains you. It's full of negativity and sucks the life out of you. When we speak words of truth, the Bible says we are like a life-giving fountain. It's as if we are breathing life into that conversation, that situation, and that person. How do we know what truth is? We dive in to God's word. We read the Bible, we pray, and spend time with God. Take a moment to consider not only what you say to other people but how you say it. Are you a life-giving fountain that refreshes others or are you draining the life from them?
Act
Go back to the conversation inventory we took at the beginning of the week. Do you see a difference where you have changed your words? Keep up the good work and pay special attention today to whether you are a fountain or a drain.
Pray
Dear God, give me self-awareness in my conversations. As I spend more time in the Bible, may your words stick in my mind and give life to my conversations. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen!
