James 1:5-6, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God ... But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind."
Hebrews 6:12, "We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised."
Group accountability is a big key to success for any workout program. It makes perfect sense. It's much easier to motivate ourselves toward success when we enjoy camaraderie with others who share our same goal. If we look forward to spending time together and encouraging one another, we are far less likely to miss a workout.
The same is true when it comes to working out spiritually. God never intended for us to live in isolation. We must exercise our faith muscles to grow stronger. And, as with any workout, the first step is easier when we have someone cheering us on.
James 1:5 gives us that step. It says to ask God for wisdom to move forward in our walk with Jesus. When we surround ourselves with otherwise people, that growth will happen more consistently. Who are you walking with? We can all benefit from a committed crew who encourages and motivates us. Before you know it, you'll discover that what began as a difficult first step is now a daily, intentional habit that is building your faith.
Do you have a committed crew to flex and exercise your faith with regularly? If not, a great place to start is by getting involved with a Connect Group. For more information, check out the link in the "Read More" tab below.
Dear God, Thank You for creating me to live in community with others. I want to flex my faith muscles to become who You want me to be, to live and advance in my walk with Christ. In Jesus' name, Amen.
