Philippians 3:8, "Yes, everything is worthless when compared to the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake, I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ."
Psalm 37:4, "Take delight in the Lord and He will give you your heart's desire."
Life is hard. In fact, it's overwhelming to have no control over certain outcomes that are important to us. When we feel this way, we tend to go into overdrive trying to get a grip on life. We worry and chase after the wrong things. Yet, despite all the effort, we put into striving for control, the less control we have. It's like trying to juggle thirty torches at the same time when even when the world record holder can only manage to juggle seven at once.
Here's the good news: We don't have to be in total control, nor were we ever meant to! Jesus paved the way to allow each of us the opportunity to turn from our sin and have a personal relationship with our Heavenly Father. God, the Ultimate Caretaker, encourages and loves us more than we can ever imagine. We can rest in Him, knowing that no matter how overwhelmed or stressed we may feel, He is in control. He holds the entire universe in the palm of His hand. There's nothing He doesn't know, and nothing catches Him by surprise. So, when the pressure of life rears its ugly head, we don't have to cower. Instead, we can turn to God and trust Him through it all. And, right now, He's saying, "Let go!"
As you think about your life, what stresses you out? What are you juggling or holding on to with a white-knuckle grip? Whatever it is, could it be that you are trying to play God in that area? Do you need to give it up to the One who can truly handle it? Trust Him. He's got this!
List the things you're striving for right now. Take a second to breathe. Talk to God. Listen to these songs from the new FC Creative release, "Walls," and remember that your Father loves you!
Heavenly Father, there is truly nothing like Your love. Remind me of who You are today and why I am here. I give up trying to have control over everything. Help me live in peace, knowing that You are in control. In Jesus' name, Amen.
