"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us..."
Think
"Expect great things, because God is a great God!" As a child, did you ever want something badly, only to get it and then realize it didn't meet your expectations? Maybe it was a toy that looked so promising in the commercials. But when you finally got it, it didn't live up to the hype and broke after just a few days. The reality is, we've all experienced unmet expectations, from broken toys to broken relationships. The reason we learn that hard lesson is that, often, we build things up in our own mind to be bigger and better than they really are capable of being. The great news is that God is nothing like that! The Bible promises us that God can "do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power..." In other words, when our expectations are based on God's promises, he won't just meet them, he will exceed them! Are your expectations based on God's limitless power? If so, get ready for him to exceed them in the coming year!
Act
Take a moment to think about what you are expecting this year. Are those expectations based on God's Word? If so, get ready for every expectation to be exceeded!
Pray
God, you promise me that you can do more than I could ever imagine. Help me to see beyond my own expectations to see what you have in store. Give me the perspective I need in order to experience your expectations! Amen.
