Jeremiah 29:11-13, "‘For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.'"

Think

You're shipwrecked on a deserted island. What do you do first? Play golf? Shop? Work on your tan? No. Obviously, you seek life-sustaining elements such as food and water. Without them, you'll die - and your highest priority is to live! However, the Bible says, "Man cannot live on bread alone." This means our most vital daily sustenance is God Himself. That's why fasting is so important. It allows us to have a heightened awareness of our need for Him as we push through our need for food. As we focus on Him, His wants become our wants and He is glorified in the process. Fasting is also a time of clarity and focus. Sure, it's great to dream and have hopes and desires. But the deep question we must ask is: "What does God want me to accomplish?" And, we must ask Him to illuminate the path forward in order to fulfill His best for our lives today, tomorrow, and over the next 10 years. So, stay strong and on course knowing the Lord has great plans for your future. And lean heavily upon Him, the life-sustaining Source that directs your course!

Act

Now a little over four days into your fast, you're probably starting to feel hungrier than usual. Here's a helpful tip: Think more about what you can have than what you can't! And see this as an opportunity to be creative using less.

Pray

Dear Lord, thank You for Your constant provision. This fast proves that less is truly more. When I choose to have less of what I desire, I get to focus more on You. Today, I will lean into You knowing full well that You are all I need. In Jesus' name, Amen.
