Critiqued

Read

Daniel 4:33,  "Immediately what had been said about Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled. He was driven away from people and ate grass like the ox. His body was drenched with the dew of heaven until his hair grew like the feathers of an eagle and his nails like the claws of a bird." Isaiah 61:10,  "I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels."

Think

Have you ever received fashion advice you didn't want? Maybe you thought you looked great, but someone pointed out a flaw in your outfit. That kind of critique can be hard to hear. But better to hear the fashion advice in private than strut our flawed fashion in public! King Nebuchadnezzar's pride convinced him to ignore God's warning. He pridefully strutted in the public eye until God caused him to trade his plush palace for livestock living and royal robes for a soiled suit. He didn't listen to God, and the consequences were devastating. God's critiques in our lives are designed to make us better. If we ignore God, we are headed into a dangerous place. But when we accept what God says, not only can He save us from future consequences, He will "clothe" us with something worth celebrating – His salvation!

Act

Listening to God's critiques is not a one-time event. When we follow God, He will regularly offer us invitations to change. Is there anything you know God wants to change in you? Don't put it off. Take a step of obedience today!

Pray

My Father in Heaven, thank You for loving me enough to point out where I am wrong. Please help me accept Your plan for my life and embrace Your gift of salvation. In Jesus' name, Amen.
