Daniel 4:27, "Therefore, Your Majesty, be pleased to accept my advice: Renounce your sins by doing what is right, and your wickedness by being kind to the oppressed. It may be that then your prosperity will continue." Colossians 2:10, "When you have Christ, you are complete. He is the head over all leaders and powers."

Think

Self-awareness is something we all want, but few have. Unless we know Jesus Christ, the Author of life, we will never be complete or able to truly know ourselves. And we'll never be fully self-aware. Pride, however, convinces us otherwise. Pride is such a deceiving characteristic that it causes us to be completely self-unaware and makes us believe that we run the show in our lives. In the book of Daniel, King Nebuchadnezzar struggled with the ride of pride. Rather than being self-aware, he was self-deceived and had convinced himself that he ran the show. Daniel, however, begged the king to turn to the only Source for true self-awareness. Daniel was placed in the king's life to help him become aware of God's sovereignty in his life. God places people in our lives to help us recognize His power and help us become self-aware.  Unfortunately, many times we miss the message and opportunity due to our pride. Don't let pride blind you to the wise counsel in your life. Allow God to humble you so that you can truly be self-aware. That begins by being humble enough to admit that you don't run the show of your life. Remember, you are incomplete without God!

Act

A great way to exit the ride of pride is by being God-focused.  Start by practicing the awareness of God each morning. Reading this devotional is a great way to do that! Watch for God in everything you do today. Remember, He is the primary source of your self-confidence, self-worth, and self-awareness!

Pray

Father God, thank You for being patient with me when I am prideful. Humble me so that I can be self-aware and truly understand who You created me to be. In Christ's name I pray, Amen.
