Come Hungry

Hebrews 6:1, "Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity..."

Think

Have you ever seen a baby seated in a high chair get excited when their favorite snack is placed on the tray in front of them? The anticipation is visible! They squeal with delight and start kicking their legs and flapping their arms. This same child-like response is similar to that of brand new believers after tasting the Bread of Life, Jesus, for the first time. With fresh faith, new Christians come to the table hungry and excited to learn more about God's Word. Like babies, we aren't capable of feeding ourselves when we first come to know Christ. We need guidance on what it means to follow Christ. During this time of major discovery, it's crucial for us to learn how to read our Bibles, pray, serve, share, and sow. When we, as new believers, pass from infancy into adolescence and continue moving on toward spiritual maturity, not only will we understand the importance of feeding ourselves, but also the necessity of inviting others to the table. Spiritual growth occurs when we know the Word, apply it, and live out God's unique purpose for our lives. In other words, it is intentional. Are you intentional about your spiritual growth? Don't grow complacent with sitting in the high chair. Instead, do those things that will help you to grow, and experience the joy the cosmic carbohydrate can bring!

Act

Who are you inviting to the table to experience the life-changing message of Christ? Make a list of five people, pray for each person on the list, and keep inviting them to Fellowship Church until they accept the invitation!

Pray

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that through this series, many people will find their place at the ultimate table. Help me not be complacent in my faith, and to remember that true spiritual growth requires pushing away from the table and focusing on all those lost and in need of an invitation to taste the Bread of Life. In Christ's name I pray, Amen.
