Blessings, Not Burdens

Read

1 Thessalonians 5:18, "...give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

Think

Have you ever realized that most of our lives are lived out in the ordinary, everyday, mundane minutes, as opposed to the mountaintop moments? It's true. We spend more time on the plains of reality than on the peaks or even in the valleys. Sadly, though, many people have a negative mindset when it comes to the mundane moments of life. They begin to see the blessings as burdens and say things like, "I can't believe I have to go to work," or, "I can't believe I have to pay all these bills." But have you ever considered this: because most of our life is in the mundane, most of our blessings are as well! God has given each of us so much. And much of it really comes down to perspective. How do you view the minutes you have? Rather than thinking, "I can't believe I have to..." shift your perspective to, "I can't believe get to..." When you begin to see the blessings in your life as something other than burdens, your entire perspective of the mundane will shift!

Act

Shift your thinking. When you begin to think negatively about something you "have" to do, stop for just a minute. Say a quick prayer of thanks in that moment and begin to see it as something you "get" to do!

Pray

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the moments and minutes in my life. Help me to see each one from Your perspective so I can appreciate the blessings you have given to me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
