Blessed to Bless

Acts 4:33-35,  "And God's grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sale and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need."

Think

There's a popular saying that dons the sides of coffee mugs, t-shirts, and wall plaques: "What if we woke up today with only what we thanked God for yesterday?" We see it and maybe smile at the sentiment, but how often do we stop and really try to grasp just how much God has given us and just how little we thank him? Spoiler alert - it's impossible to count! Nonetheless, this should give us pause to consider what we're doing with God's gifts. We are made in the image of a generous God; therefore, we have an innate desire to give. But, it's not just a desire; it's a commandment because God knows that we get funny when it comes to our money! Today's passage demonstrates just how vital and effective it is when we give to the local church. As the body of Christ, our giving is leveraged for life-change. We are blessed by God to be a blessing to others, and we are affecting the forever as we work together! And, God loves it when we give. It moves his heart when he can look at us and see his own reflection!

Act

Even if it's a small amount above and beyond your regular tithe, challenge yourself to add a "Bless Others" line item in your monthly budget. You can make a huge impact with even a small gift!

Pray

Dear Lord, I want to be a cheerful giver despite my own selfish nature. Help me to trust you with my finances just as much as I trust you with my salvation. Thank you for all you are doing in my life and in the life of the church. Today, I want to move your heart! In Jesus' name, Amen.
