Be the Church!

Read

1 Corinthians 12:27, "All of you together are Christ's body, and each of you is a part of it."

Think

"You should be an active, healthy, functioning member of the body of Christ." Have you ever had a part of your body that wasn't functioning at full capacity? A bum shoulder, a twisted ankle, an upset stomach? When one part isn't working well, your whole body is affected. God calls us to be the hands and feet of the church – each person doing their part. We are to do his work in his way for his purpose. The church is not a building, it's people. We are what makes the church move and grow, so it's our job to do a great job! There are three main focuses when it comes to being an active member of the local church: sharing Jesus, sowing the tithe, and serving. You can share Jesus by telling others your story of what Jesus has done in your life. And, invite them to church! You sow by bringing the first 10% of your paycheck to the local church, not because God needs your money, but because God desires to transform our hearts into hearts that fully trust him and he will use those resources to rescue and change the lives of others. And you serve by using your time and talents to regularly volunteer at Fellowship Church because the God of all creation wants to partner with you in sharing his love and life with others!

Act

Find a piece of paper and write these three words: serving, sowing, sharing. Now write the name of a neighbor, a friend, or a co-worker who does not personally know Jesus. Throughout the day read the piece of paper and remind yourself that God wants to use your serving, sowing, and sharing to transform the lives of these names as well as those listed on thousands of cards written by others.

Pray

God, thank you for building the church so it could make a difference in my life. Show me how I can build the church so it can make a difference in the life of someone else. In Jesus' name, Amen.
