Matthew 6:34,
"Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes." (MSG)
Think
Worry! It never really occurs to us that most of what we worry about has yet to happen. We obsess about what may or may not come to pass. Anxiety about the future becomes so overwhelming that we make ourselves physically sick. And here's the kicker: the majority, if not everything we worry about, are things over which we have zero control. Zero! Worry is taking something from the future and bringing it into the present. Jesus rebuked His disciples for being concerned beyond measure about the future. He reminded them that their Heavenly Father always knows what they need even before they ask. Essentially, they tried to live beyond today, and as a result, were exhausting tomorrow's grace on today's burdens. The only part of eternity we can really claim as our own is today. God wants us to live for today and put the future in His hands. So, we need to let go and trust that God has our back. If we allow worry to consume our thoughts, the only place we'll find ourselves is in bed with a migraine. Instead, declare that God's got this! Trust Him today, and you will be blessed for your obedience tomorrow!
Act
Make a list of the areas in your life that cause you the greatest worry. They could be health, finances, family or work issues. Get specific. Now remind yourself that God is in control as you give every one of those worries to Him. Name them and release them to God.
Pray
Dear God, I acknowledge that You are in control of everything, especially my life. You love me and want my best. I give these worries to You: _____. I realize I have no control over them and trust that You do. In Jesus' name, Amen.
