Daniel 5:13, "So Daniel was brought in before the king. The king asked him, "Are you Daniel, one of the exiles brought from Judah by my predecessor, King Nebuchadnezzar?"
Think
One of the greatest aspects of God's Word, the Bible, is its transparency. Time and time again, God provides clear examples for us to study. When we look to the Bible, we discover two kinds of models – those we should avoid copying and those we should strive to emulate. The prophet Daniel is an example we should all look to learn from if we hope to get the most out of life. This Old Testament man lived a life of humility, integrity, and honor, whether it was behind-the-scenes or in front of a royal crowd. Because of that, he was fully self-aware. When we understand first who God is and second who He has created us to be, we have an awareness that is a great example to those around us. When we place ourselves in our rightful place under God's leadership, He will build into us the character qualities that will make an impact on others. Watch for ways to be an example of self-awareness to those around you.
Act
Think about the three big character traits from Daniel's life – humility, integrity, and honor. Which of those stands out most to you as the quality you need to work on? Today, make it your prayer for God to build that quality in your life.
Pray
Dear God, I know that You are the source of true self-awareness. Help me to remember that truth every moment of every day. Build into my life the kind of humility, integrity, and honor the prophet Daniel had. Let my life serve as an example to those around me for Your glory. In Christ's name I pray, Amen.
