Think
"Work began with God when God began with work." "It's Monday! I can't wait to get to work!" Said no one ever. Wait. Why is it popular opinion that work is a punishment? We think work is something we have to do. But when we understand work from God's perspective, we realize work is something we get to do! Did you know that God is a God of work? Just look at the first chapter of the Bible (Genesis 1). Work began with God when God began with work! At the end of that workweek, he reflected on all he had done, and he felt a sense of accomplishment. There's no way God began that first day of creation with a "case of the Mondays." Rather, he couldn't wait to get started, because he knew how amazing his creation was going to be! Are you ready for that same sense of accomplishment? Thank God for his example, and then get to work!
Act
Take a moment and imagine the change in the culture of your corporation, team, classroom, or family if you shifted your perspective on work? How can you specifically begin to make changes in the way you think about work and influence others to do the same?
Pray
God, thank you for the gift of work. Help me, in those moments that I begin to see work as a burden, to realize the real blessing that it is. In Jesus' name, Amen.
