Read

Genesis 1:1, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."

Think

What is the very first thing we learn about God in the Bible? We are introduced to Him as Creator. God makes the heavens and earth, forms the first human from the dust, breathes into the human's nostrils the breath of life, plants a garden in Eden, and makes fruitful trees grow. God is creativity, and it doesn't exist without Him! Creativity is intimately woven into God's character. To see the work of God's hand is to see God. The scope of His creativity is seen everywhere: crystals forming into diamonds or the frosted beauty of snowflakes. The movement of stars and planets in space; northern lights in the Alaskan sky; trees and plants of incalculable diversity; every creature that moves on the earth - all were created by God. Creativity is the first thing we know and often forget about God. When an unrelenting wave crashes against the shoreline, we forget that wave is a creative expression of God's relentless power and greatness. We must never lose sight that God is the Creator who wants to communicate with us through His creation. In the beginning, God created. God is creativity.

Act

Creativity extends beyond artistic expression as seen in music and the arts. Today, take a moment to look outside and appreciate the creativity that God surrounds us with. Then, ask God to show you something new through His creativity this week.

Pray

Heavenly Father, open my eyes to Your creative nature. Let me see Your infinite imagination and endless innovation. Your creation echoes Your majesty. I glorify You! I worship You! Amen.
