Bring Them To Jesus

Read: Lamentations 2:19 “Arise, cry out in the night, as the watches of the night begin; pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord. Lift up your hands to him for the lives of your children, who faint from hunger at every street corner.”

Think: As parents, we have a powerful role to play in the lives of our children. We can be their loyal advocates and obstinate intercessors, standing in the gap and lifting them up in prayer. When we bring our parenting fears to Christ, we can find the peace and guidance we need to navigate the challenges that come our way. If we don't take our fears to Christ, we risk taking them out on our kids. Fear can turn some parents into suspicious jailers, constantly monitoring every minute and checking the background of every friend. This can stifle growth and communicate distrust, creating a family with no breathing room that suffocates a child.

Prayer is the basin into which parental fears are poured to cool. When we bring our fears to Christ in prayer, we can find the strength and wisdom to parent our children with love and grace. Each time we pray, Christ responds and provides the guidance we need. So when we send our children off for the day, or tell them goodnight, let's cover them in prayer and bless them with our love.

Apply: Consistently and persistently pray with and for your child. Pray specifically.

Pray: Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of my child. Help me to raise them to love and honor you. Instruct me as I lead them in a relationship with you. Allow us to grow together in deeper connection with you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
