Deuteronomy 3:28, "But commission Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, for he will lead this people across and will cause them to inherit the land that you will see."
Think
Throughout the Bible we read stories of men and women standing for God. But in nearly every situation that someone takes a stand for God, they face opposition. Why? Because there is a real enemy in the world, and the enemy wants nothing more than to thwart the goodness of God. Joshua (a.k.a. Junior Mint) had taken over for Moses (a.k.a. Mr. Mint) to lead the people of Israel into the Promise Land. In doing so, he faced some major opposition. But God commissioned Moses to empower and encourage Joshua in order for His plan to be completed. And Joshua, strengthened by the hand of God, fulfilled the mission and led the Israelites into the Promise Land. Are you facing opposition right now? Maybe you've started a new job, a new relationship, or a new phase of life. Whatever opposition you may be facing, remember that although the road may not be easy, God is there to strengthen and guide you. When you do things His way, you'll be strengthened by His hand!
Act
When you stand for God's position, you'll always face opposition. But God is there with you! Read Deuteronomy 31 and Joshua 1, and highlight every time God tells Joshua to "be strong and courageous." Take heart knowing that He has the same thing in mind for you. Be strong and courageous!
Pray
Dear Lord, as I follow Your plan for my life, I trust that You will be with me. Right now, I surrender to Your strength and ask that You continue to lead and guide me, no matter what opposition I may face. In Jesus' name, Amen.
