Malachi 3:10 – "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the Lord Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it."
Think
The Scripture reference above is one of the most used whenever the subject of tithe is discussed. We're told it's the only time that God tells us to test Him, and it's true. But many times, we can become so hyper-focused on the first part of the verse that we miss the promise of the second half. If we take a moment to continue reading through the entire verse, though, we'll discover the amazing promise God communicates to us, the promise of "...so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it." Sometimes people feel as though tithing is a one-sided deal and that God just wants to take our "cake" away. But that's a misunderstanding of what the tithe really is. God clearly tells us that it's not a one-sided deal. The tithe isn't just about what we are to do. It's also a promise of what God will do! God wants to bless our lives and show His love for us, and He is ready to fulfill His promise to us. All we have to do is be obedient and bring the first tenth of our "cake" back to Him, a cake that He has already provided. So, go ahead, test God in this area. See if He "will not throw open His floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it." Is your heart and life ready for that blessing? Begin to bring the tithe joyfully and find out just how amazing God's promise is!

Pray
Father God, thank You for giving me everything that I have. Help me to not forget You are the true source of it all. It is only right to bring back a tenth of that to Your house. Open my heart to bring the tithe with joy so that I will not miss the blessings You have for me. In Jesus' name, Amen!
