Proverbs 13:11,  "He who gathers money little by little makes it grow." Proverbs 13:22,  "A good person leaves an inheritance for their children's children..."

Think

"When you do things God's way, you get God's results." Are you naturally a spender or a saver? For the "spenders," saving money can be a daunting and difficult task. But, God has given us a great handle to get ahead and gain success his way! This weekend we learned about the "Give, Give, Live" plan. The first "Give" is about tithing. The second "Give" is giving to ourselves. In other words, we bring the first ten percent to God through the local church, and we put the second ten percent in savings. God gives us some great financial advice in Proverbs when he tells us to gather money little by little. As we build our savings a small pile at a time, we will eventually have a big pile to enjoy! Saving and investing also helps us build important life skills like discipline and self-control. When we save and invest, we are disciplining ourselves with our cashflow and exercising self-control by not spending what we have saved. If you already have a savings plan in place, that's great! If you don't, this is a great time to start!

Act

Do you have a savings account? Set one up today. Start saving the second 10% of each paycheck to this account and watch your money grow! It's not easy to start a habit, but building this plan into your finances is going to bring some major long-term goals to light!

Pray

God, thank you for giving me a strong plan for my finances. Help me to exercise discipline and self-control to set money aside for my savings. In Jesus' name, Amen.
